Martha brings more than 40 years of experience in the planning and design of healthcare and academic science facilities. She co-founded Rothman Partners in 1969, growing the firm to a staff of more than 60 by the mid-1990s. In 2005 the firm became Anshen + Allen + Rothman, where she served as managing principal until 2007, then as a principal of Anshen + Allen until 2009.
Particularly notable projects completed under her leadership at Anshen + Allen include the South Pavilion at Women and Infants Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island, which received LEED Gold certification; the award-winning Shapiro Clinical Center at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston; the Research and Education Building for Harvard School of Dental Medicine; the School of Nursing at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst; and a master plan for Women and Children’s services at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore.
Martha is a founding member and Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Architects and serves on the editorial board of the Journal of the International Academy for Design and Health.
