Construction begins today for the Anderson Student Center at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota.
“The student center will serve as a wonderful gathering place that will tie together our north and south campuses,” said Father Dennis Dease, president. Jane Canney, vice president for student affairs, called the center “our living room – the real heart of the campus.”

Campbell University’s School of Law’s move into new facilities in downtown Raleigh was celebrated in this month’s issue of the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL) Spectrum.
In “From the Creek to the Capital” Olivia Weeks discusses the aspirations and challenges behind the creation of a space that is “warm, welcoming, functional, and quietly elegant.” Since opening in September 2009, students’ use of the law library has far exceeded expectations.
Since its move to downtown Raleigh, the law school has received the 2010 Downtown Raleigh Alliance Imprint Award and a 2010 Champion Award.

Lovett Magazine, Spring 2010

Shepley Bulfinch has begun schematic design for the new Health and Biomedical Science Center for the University of Houston’s College of Optometry.
The 167,600 s.f. state-of-the-art research and patient eye care center will include an ambulatory surgical center, laser center, specialized research labs, offices, seminar spaces, a new conference facility, and classrooms. It will be located adjacent to the J. Davis Armistead Building on the southern end of the University’s main campus. Campbell University and the Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law were honored by the Downtown Raleigh Alliance (DRA) as a recipient of the Alliance’s 2010 Imprint Award at a ceremony on February 25. Campbell treasurer Jim Roberts and law school dean Melissa Essary accepted the award on behalf of the university. Shepley Bulfinch, the project’s design architect, and associate architect Small Kane were also recognized during the presentation, together with the general contractor and project engineers.
The Imprint Award recognizes new construction and renovation projects completed in the previous year that significantly contribute to the identity of downtown Raleigh. Campbell was honored for its $32 million investment in locating the Wiggins ...[more]
