BOSTON, MA – Boston’s landmark Ames Building, completed in 1893 by Shepley, Rutan & Coolidge, opened as The Ames Hotel at a gala event hosted by The Morgans Hotel Group last night.

The transformation of the office building to a 114-room boutique hotel followed an extensive renovation. The 13-story building, located between the Old State House and Boston City Hall, is considered Boston’s first skyscraper. Bloomington, IL – Site preparation is now underway at Illinois Wesleyan for the newest addition to the university’s main quad: a technology-rich classroom building with a wide array of classroom, study, and social spaces.

Sustainability is the watchword from project outset, as construction waste and debris from the site is recycled. The brick-clad building will be highly energy-efficient, with generous use of natural light and a geothermal field below.
