Shepley Bulfinch was honored as one of 2011’s Top 100 Women-Led Businesses in Massachusetts in an event hosted by the Boston Business Journal and the Commonwealth Institute earlier today to honor Massachusetts’ largest women-led companies and their impact on the state’s economy.
Carole Wedge, who has been Shepley’s president since 2004, was on hand to receive the award.
Earlier this year, the firm was honored by the American Institute of Architects in the AIA’s Diversity Recognition Program.
The 100 firms honored today span the spectrum of business sectors, and included the TJX Companies, Sonesta International Hotels, and Constant Contact.

Shepley Bulfinch was one of three firms honored for achievements in diversity by the American Institute of Architects in a presentation earlier today at the annual AIA national conference in New Orleans. 2011 jury chair Clarence Kwan, AIA, announced the honorees, lauding Shepley was honored for its work in transforming the culture of the firm into one that is diverse and collaborative.

Shepley Bulfinch has been selected for honors in the Diversity Recognition Program of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) for its work in fostering a diverse culture in its practice.

Shepley Bulfinch principal Chris Nieto has been selected as one of this year’s Forty Under 40 by the Phoenix Business Journal. He will receive the inspiring business award at a June 16 reception to honor the 2011 nominees.
Chris, who co-founded merzproject architecture with partner Joe Herzog as a Phoenix design start-up in 2004, became a principal at Shepley Bulfinch following its merger with merzproject in 2009.

McClay Library at Queen’sUniversity Belfast received a Commendation in the UK’s 2011 Civic Trust Awards held in Manchester, England, on March 4.
Established in 1959, the Civic Trust Awards recognize the best in architecture, design, planning, landscape and public art. Awards are given to projects of the highest quality design that are judged to have made a positive cultural, social, or economic contribution to the local community.

The McClay Library at Queen’s University Belfast, in Northern Ireland, has received the 2010 Sustainability Award from the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), it was announced today.
The Library, which won the 2010 RICS Northern Ireland award earlier this year, was chosen over category winners from the other RICS geographic regions across the UK for this prestigious national award.

Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin has won a National Honor Award from the National Terrazzo & Mosaic Association for the terrazzo floors in the hospital’s new West Tower in suburban Milwaukee, which opened in April 2009.
The hospital’s floors, which depict natural elements, were created as a way to transport children from the hospital setting to places in nature, with imagery drawn from botanical and wild life of Wisconsin. Campbell University and the Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law were honored by the Downtown Raleigh Alliance (DRA) as a recipient of the Alliance’s 2010 Imprint Award at a ceremony on February 25. Campbell treasurer Jim Roberts and law school dean Melissa Essary accepted the award on behalf of the university. Shepley Bulfinch, the project’s design architect, and associate architect Small Kane were also recognized during the presentation, together with the general contractor and project engineers.
