Shepley announces merger of Merzproject, expansion of presence in Southwest

BOSTON, MA – National architecture firm Shepley Bulfinch of Boston and Merzproject of Phoenix today announced their merger. The merger unites Shepley Bulfinch, one of the country’s leading design firms, and Merzproject, named a 2009 Design Vanguard firm by Architectural Record. Starting today, the Phoenix office will be known as Merzproject, a studio of Shepley Bulfinch.

Carole Wedge elected to BSA Board of Directors

The Boston Society of Architects (BSA) announced today that Shepley Bulfinch president Carole Wedge, FAIA, LEED AP has been elected to a term as a director-at-large on the BSA board of directors.

A long-standing leader in Boston’s design community, Carole chaired the BSA host committee for the 2008 national convention of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) in 2008. She has served on the BSA’s ethics committee since 2007. At the national level, Carole is a member of the AIA Large Firm Roundtable and the AIA Strategic Directions Task Force. She has been president of Shepley Bulfinch since 2004.

Carole Wedge: this week’s AIA Architect “Doer’s Profile”

Shepley Bulfinch president Carole Wedge was in the spotlight as this week’s “Doer’s Profile” in AIArchitect, the weekly online newsletter of the American Institute of Architects.

In her interview with Sara Fernandez Cendon, Carole talks about women in architecture and the value of a diversity of perspectives in design. In 2004, Carole became the firm’s first female president, and today is a member of the AIA’s Large Firm Roundtable. She is speaking at the AIA Women’s Leadership Summit in Chicago in September.
