WELLESLEY, MA, – Shepley Bulfinch joins Wellesley College as the College marks the 100th anniversary of the Margaret Clapp Library with a reception and the opening of a retrospective photo exhibit at the library on October 21.
The original Library building was designed by the firm (then named Shepley, Rutan, and Coolidge) in 1909 and funded in part by Andrew Carnegie. In 1975, it was named for Margaret Clapp, Wellesley’s eighth president (1949-66).

Shepley Bulfinch will be designing a new library for Ringling College of Art + Design in Sarasota, Florida, as a “locus for learning” for the design school’s creative community.
The new library is a milestone project for Ringling, which has expanded significantly in recent years, and will be the first building executed as part of the College’s campus master plan. The 50,000 square foot library, which will be located on a new site on campus, will quadruple the space of the present 12,000 square foot Kimbrough Library, which opened in 1980.

Shepley Bulfinch has won the “Single Space” category in the 2012 Library Interior Design Competition for the Learning Commons for Atlanta University Center’s Robert W. Woodruff Library. The biennial design award is jointly sponsored by the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) and the American Library Association (ALA).

The innovative design of the law library at Marquette Law School is the subject of “A library without borders,” a feature in the May 2011 issue of the AALL Spectrum, the monthly publication of the American Association of Law Libraries. The design of the library, which is integrated across the four floors of the law school, reflects Marquette’s commitment to a welcoming environment for scholarship.
