Bishop Fenwick Place, Xavier University’s new residential and dining complex, was dedicated last month in a ceremony that celebrated the transformational residence and dining complex on the Cincinnati campus.

Fenwick Place is home to 535 sophomores with suite-style living in four connected wings that rise above a green terrace. The terrace also serves as the roof of Hoff Dining Commons, the university’s new central dining facility. What do you get when you bring together hungry students, the need for social spaces, and a great design? In this case, the answer is the renovation and expansion of Duke University’s landmark West Union.

Now in design, the project will create a social hub with a range of dining options, drawing students and faculty from across the school’s West Campus.

Programming and conceptual design have followed an assessment of the building completed earlier this summer. The project will preserve the West Union’s Collegiate Gothic façade while renovating 52,000 square feet of space and using an interior courtyard to create 52,550 square feet of new space.

Construction is now underway for the new residence hall and dining complex for Xavier University in Cincinnati. A symbolic ‘topping off’ ceremony on November 4  marked the installation of the last piece of structural steel for the Anderson Student Center at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota.

The 240,000 square foot project, which is scheduled to open in early 2012, will replace many of the services currently housed in the university’s Murray-Herrick Campus Center.

Construction begins today for the Anderson Student Center at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota.

“The student center will serve as a wonderful gathering place that will tie together our north and south campuses,” said Father Dennis Dease, president. Jane Canney, vice president for student affairs, called the center “our living room – the real heart of the campus.”

The University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota, has given the green light for construction of the 210,000 s.f. Anderson Student Center, with plans to complete the project by the end of 2011.
