CHICAGO, IL – Boole Library, the postgraduate research facility at University College Cork, Ireland, has received a 2008 International Architecture Award from the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design.

Built on the site of an ancient settlement the Library’s red sandstone exterior is a contemporary continuation of the settlement’s stone wall, while copper cladding and glass complete the façade. The University of Houston celebrated its broadening impact in health care research and care with the dedication of the Health and Biomedical Sciences Building on February 5.

Speaking at the ceremony, University of Houston president and chancellor Renu Khator noted the center’s role in advancing research and education for the University of Houston, a Carnegie Foundation Tier One Research Institution.

Shepley Bulfinch is marking Arizona’s centennial with “Where were you in 1912?”, an exhibit of architectural renderings from the firm’s extensive archives that is now on display at the firm’s Phoenix studio. The selected works cover the period from 1910 to 1920, the decade of Arizona’s statehood. The exhibit’s highlight is a series of renderings of Phoenix’s Trinity Cathedral and Parish House.

A destination and a city landmark in the making, the New Central Library will welcome residents to a facility that emphasizes the delivery of information in both electronic and book formats, and includes a mix of lively and contemplative spaces. Collections will be displayed to encourage discovery, supported by state-of-the-art technologies integrated throughout the facility.

Design is now underway for the Harvard Innovation Lab (Harvard I-Lab), a campus-wide innovation incubator located on the Harvard Business School campus in Boston.
